Regarding the Capital Area Independent Business Alliance's initiative to have people spend locally... there was a similar initiative in Alabama: http://blog.al.com/live/2009/03/brewton_pharmacist_launches_ho.html He gave his employees $700 in $2 bills and asked them to spend it locally.
